Presentation key take-aways:

  • Unlock performance engineering: faster, better decisions
  • AI + Cloud convergence (Simcenter X): scalable, intelligent simulation
  • Platform approach (SaaS): flexible, on-demand access

Take a 15-minute break to relax, enjoy coffee, tea, and sweets, and connect with fellow attendees. After the break, participants will split into two separate rooms for the Femap and STAR-CCM+ breakout tracks.

Break-out room: FEM Track

Robin Boeykens - Global Product Management head from Siemens, will present the latest updates in Femap and share the product vision for the future.

Bas Aberkrom - Senior FEM Engineer from Femto, will showcase how API tools for Femap can help optimize engineering workflows and improve efficiency.

Speaker

Bas Aberkrom, FEM Engineer from Femto Engineering

This presentation will introduce the latest standard-based verification capabilities added to SDC Verifier for Femap and Simcenter 3D over the past year, with a focus on new standards, supported element types, and practical engineering use cases. The session will cover new verification options for offshore, marine, wind energy, fatigue, weld, buckling, tubular connection, and airframe-type structures, including standards such as DNV RP-C201, DNV RP-C202, ISO 19902, API RP 2A-LRFD, NORSOK N-004, AS 4100 Fatigue, Eurocode 9 Welds, and NACA-based plate buckling calculations. Attendees will learn which structural elements and checks are covered by these additions, including plates, stiffeners, girders, curved plates, tubular joints, welds, and fatigue details, and how these standards can be applied efficiently in SDC Verifier directly on FEA results, making the verification process clearer and easier to document than manual or spreadsheet-based workflows.

Key takeaway points
- Overview of the new standards added to SDC for Femap and Simcenter 3D over the past year.
- Explanation of the structural elements and verification cases covered by these standards.
- Practical guidance on how to work with these standards inside the SDC Verifier workflow.
- Why standard-based verification directly on FEA results provides a clearer and more reliable alternative to manual or script-based post-processing.

Speaker:

Wouter van den Bos, Founder and CEO from SDC Verifier - an engineering SaaS and consultancy provider. Since creating a game-changing program for verification according to standards in 1998, Wouter has started and developed an international company with a purpose to empower engineers with a time-saving automatized workflow for getting the most accurate calculation and code-checking results.
Wouter is also a Researcher at Technical University in Delft, the Netherlands, specializing in Mechanical, Maritime and Materials Engineering, Transport Engineering and Logistics. He has grown many young specialists encouraging them to look for innovative and most advanced solutions by own example.

Have direct conversations with Siemens experts and share your feedback, ideas, and product questions. Please submit your questions before June 4th.

Break-out room: CFD Track

Emile Arens - Principal Solution Consultant at Siemens, will discuss the latest updates in Simcenter STAR-CCM+ and explore how Physics AI is being applied within the platform.

Speaker

Emile Arens is a Principal PreSales Solutions Consultant specializing in computational fluid dynamics (CFD), design space exploration, and advanced engineering simulation. Based in London, he works closely with customers across EMEA to translate complex engineering challenges into scalable, value-driven solutions using tools such as Simcenter STAR-CCM+, HEEDS, and AI-enabled workflows.

Discover how high-fidelity validated CFD simulations were used to support the safe installation of a new bridge near the Netherlands. During this complex infrastructure project, two large pontoons were used to install a new highway bridge across the river, raising concerns about flow blockage, increased water levels, and potential flooding risks.

In this session, we’ll explore how FEMTO used Simcenter STAR-CCM+ to build and validate a large-scale CFD model of the river, covering nearly 1 square kilometer, to accurately predict flow behavior, barge loads, and water level changes during installation. Learn how advanced simulation helped reduce project risks, validate engineering assumptions, and provide critical insights that traditional analytical methods could not deliver.

Speaker

Martijn van Dijk, CFD Engineer at Femto Engineering.

Martijn studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of Twente. His master track was in Engineering Fluid Dynamics. He started at Femto as a Project Engineer in 2015 and have been working on fluid mechanics for almost as long. In his free time, he likes to sail.

Speaker

Tommaso Boschetti works in the Hydraulics for Infrastructure and Industry department of Deltares since 2015. His expertise lies in the numerical modelling of complex flows near hydraulic structures, such as locks, dams, storm surge barriers and spillways.

He uses this specific knowledge on the hydraulic behaviour of engineering structures in the improvement of the schematisations applied to coarser modelling modes, for example at the network level. His work contributes to Deltares' mission (Enabling Delta Life) by ensuring that hydraulic infrastructure functions reliably within complex systems such as deltas.

The Siemens R&D team and product representatives will answer your questions directly and discuss future developments of the Simcenter STAR-CCM+ product. Please submit your questions before June 4th.

Closing

Join Project March for an inspiring closing presentation on how digital twins are helping shape the future of mobility. The team will share their vision, the real-life challenges people with spinal cord injuries face, and how exoskeleton technology can create greater independence. Discover their ultimate goal of achieving self-balanced walking, the engineering challenges behind it, and how simulation tools such asSimcenter Amesim are used to optimize control systems and improve the latest generation of their exoskeleton: March XI.

Elke Crooijmans, Student at TU Delft University, Project March
