Meet Eduardo: Femto’s newest Intern Engineer 

Could you tell us a bit about yourself.

My name is Eduardo Izarra Vera, I am 25 years old, and I originally come from Venezuela with a mixed heritage. I started to study mechanical engineering back in 2017 in Venezuela, but the mix of the humanitarian crisis in the country plus the pandemic made it impossible for me to continue my studies (lack of infrastructures in Venezuela for having online lectures). Then I migrated to Lithuania, the land of my paternal grandmother, where I started over my studies of mechanical engineering and completed four semesters there. Lastly, I transferred universities from KTU in Lithuania to Hanze hogeschool in Groningen, NL. Here I will finish my bachelor’s studies. Afterwards, I will pursue a master’s degree in aerospace engineering at TU Delft.

I speak five languages on different levels, but my mother tongue is Spanish. I enjoy playing tennis, when the weather allows it, and travelling with my girlfriend during holidays.

Why did you choose Femto for your internship? 

CFD is a versatile field, and as an almost graduated mechanical engineer, this graduation assignment will allow me to apply CFD in any relevant field, including aerospace, which motivated me to apply for the internship at Femto.

What do you hope to gain from this internship? 

The CFD learning curve is steep, but so far I have been guided really well by my supervisor and colleagues. I am confident that I will be able to perform successful fluid simulations by the end of the project.
